Which students can apply?: 

Applicants should be living in the counties of Argyll, Bute, Caithness, Inverness, Orkney, Ross and Cromarty, Sutherland or Shetland and be of the Protestant faith. Applicants should be in the fifth or sixth form at school and about to leave to go on to university or other institution of further education. Preference is given to Gaelic speakers.

Typical Grants: 

Grants of £120 to £160 a year are given to students about to study for a first degree at college/university, towards their university/college books and maintenence. Bursaries are awarded at the discretion of the governors on merit, based on the results of the 'Higher' grade exminations. In determining the award, parental means are taken into account.

How to apply:: 

In writing to the correspondent. Applications should be submitted through the individual's school between March and June inclusive and include: confirmation that the applicant is of the Protestant faith; details of the occupation and gross income of parent/ guardian; ability at Gaelic, if any; university/college course to be undertaken; and intended career of the applicant. Decisions are made in september.
